Our goals are to provide a social experience for both toddlers and parents, while also providing an educational component in the form of a parent discussion group led by our Director, Ellis Enlow. The program is intended for toddlers, whom we define as children who walk independently and are not yet old enough for our nursery school. The program provides an opportunity for parents to learn about parenting and child development and to share child-rearing information. Parents both observe and explore with their children and have the opportunity to connect with other parents who are in the same phase of parenting. It’s also a chance to get sand in your shoes, paint on your clothes and a new song in your head!
Our program takes place at the Crestwood Hills Park, next door to the nursery school. The park is located in the Crestwood Hills area of Brentwood at 1000 Hanley Ave, LA, 90049. (During Summer the program takes place at the school.)
Toddler classes are held only on Fridays and new sessions begin every three months. Unfortunately, we do not offer make-up classes. Once accepted into our program, most families attend the Toddler Program for one to two years.
The cost of each session is $300
The morning program runs from 9:30 to 11:30 and the afternoon runs from 12:30 to 2:30.
Flow of the Day:
We begin each class with approximately 45 minutes of free play that includes choices such as play-dough, paint, toys and the park’s climbing structure and swings. This is followed by a snack for the children, which we provide. After snack, the children are free to play again, while their parents gather for a 30 to 40 minute discussion group. Each week, Ellis selects one particular child development topic for discussion. Parents are also invited to bring their parenting questions to the group. The program ends with a story and music time led by one or more of our toddler teachers.
