You are required to complete four weekend workdays per family per year, two in the fall/winter period and two in the spring/summer period. If you want credit for the day, please arrive on time and stay for the entire workday. Families who do not complete these requirements are charged $150 for the first missed workday, $250 for the second missed workday, $350 for the third missed workday and $450 for the fourth missed workday. All four missed workdays are charged a total of $1,200 and may be subject to other penalties including re-evaluation of membership, depending on the severity of the situation. Workdays are important and you may not opt to pay the fine rather than attend.
Every month, a Saturday or Sunday morning will be designated as a weekend workday. A sign up sheet will be posted a week or so in advance so the weekend workday coordinators can get a sense of the number of people they will have.
At the workday, we take care of equipment repairs, special cleaning tasks, tree/bush trimming, etc. We also give the school a thorough general cleaning that includes the kitchen, sheds, and the inside and outside toys. If you see anything that needs to be repaired or addressed at a weekend workday, please tell a teacher or one of the two Weekend Workday Coordinators.
All families must participate in weekend workdays. If both parents attend a single weekend workday, it counts as two workdays. Please note that the work must be done by Co-Op members—not by grandparents, aunts/uncles, nephews/nieces, housekeepers, etc.
Children are welcome at weekend workdays (as long as they won’t hinder your participation in the work).
Additional Work Hours. Each year, every family is required to work an additional four (4) hours per year assisting with Co-Op events. You will be given the opportunity to sign up for these work hours. If you do not sign up, you may be assigned by the Vice President of the Co-Op.
